Louisville Cardinals: The Cinderella Team?

The Louisville Cardinals of this year may be the Butlers of last. You see, no-one thought that the Cardinals would be ranked number 20-21, or even close to be ranked at all! Why this is will be esplained in detail.

You see, the Louisville Cardinals of last season were a let-down. After their great 2008-2009 season, they failed miserably to bring the fans anything to brag about(except of rhtier final game a Freedom Hall). You see, the Cardinals had lost their two top scorers, Earl Clark and Terrence Williams, yet still were picked to be ranked 17th in the preseason poll. The selection commitee couldn't have made a worse mistake.
The team proved that they couldn't work together, and that they couldn't put together any kind of defense. I don't want to bring all the blame down of Edgar Sosa, but he was one of the biggest ball hogs in Louisville basketball history. You see, Edgar Sosa consitently took bad shots and Pitino never took him out of a game. Now anyways, I am getting off track. Let's take a look at this season's team.

The 2010-2011 Louisville were expected to be even worse than last season's team. Not only did they lose Edgar Sosa(whom was our top scorer), but they also lost Samuels(who left to go to the NBA draft). Not only that, but the Cardinals' recruiting class was ranked a C- by ESPN and a C by CNN. They were never suppose to be ranked this year, and were most defiently not suppose to be undefeated against top 25 ranked teams or even have a 9-1 record. The whole world was shocked when they defeated rank 18 Butler in their first game(NOTE: Butler is no longer ranked). Then they shocked the World again when they defeated ranked 19 UNLV to become ranked 21(NOTE: UNLV is ranked 21 now).

As you can see, Louisville already has a huge resume going for them, and it probably will only get better from here. If Louisville can keep running their oppenets then they could possibly be ranked number two-three by the NCAA tournament. Could Lousiville be the Cinderella Team of the year? Maybe, maybe not? Only time will tell.
